The United States only uses the heavily modified attack variant known as the MH-60M Black Hawk. The aircraft’s crew of four consists of a pilot, a co-pilot, two crew chiefs/door gunners, and there is space to carry an additional nine fully equipped special forces personnel. The aircraft is used by the Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment to conduct high speed, low altitude missions in support of special operations, including force insertion and extraction and reconnaissance. The Rockwell Collins Common Avionics Architecture System and instruments controlling cutting-edge sensors enabling advanced flight profiles, threat detection and warning, and defensive countermeasures are installed in the cockpit. The main armament in this configuration are two M134 7.62 miniguns situated on each side just behind the pilot.
