The first vehicles were delivered in 2013 and after testing entered service in 2016.The vehicle is being purchased in two major variants: an armoured combat support vehicle and a fighting variant with the same 25mm cannon found on the LAV II and LAV III. The Canadian Army intends to replace its entire LAV fleet of various LAV II and LAV III variants with the LAV 6, which is also referred to as the LAV 6, LAV 6.0, or LAV VI (ACSV).
