The Polish Ministry of National Defense signed a contract in December 2002 to purchase 690 Patria AMV vehicles, which will be produced in Poland. The MOWAG Piranha and Steyr Pandur were the AMV’s major rivals. 690 vehicles were to be delivered as part of the first purchase, in two basic variants: 313 combat IFVs and 377 transport-special base vehicles. The order was expanded to 997 for delivery between 2014 and 2019 in October 2013. “Rosomak,” which is Polish for “Wolverine.”
